About this age calculator

Pick a birth date (and optionally an "as of" date other than today) to see the exact age as of that date, broken down into years, months, and days — not just years.

Common uses: checking a child's exact age in months for a milestone chart, calculating age for a form that asks for years/months/days, figuring out how many days old someone is turning, or counting down to an upcoming birthday.

The years/months/days breakdown is calculated exactly using calendar arithmetic, accounting for real month lengths and leap years — not a fixed 30-day-month approximation.

The "as of" date defaults to today but can be changed to calculate someone's age on any other date — a wedding day, a graduation, or any date in the past or future.

Everything runs locally in your browser. No birth date you enter is sent anywhere.

How your exact age is calculated ?

This age calculator compares your birthdate to the reference date. It works out full years first, then months, then days — the same way you'd count on your fingers, just precise and instant. Someone born March 15th isn't a year older until March 15th actually arrives, even later in the same calendar year. Getting that transition exactly right is where counting by hand usually slips. Need the days between two arbitrary dates instead of an age? Try the date calculator.

Birthdays on February 29th

If you were born on February 29th, your actual birthdate doesn't exist on the calendar three years out of four. There's no single agreed rule for which day counts as your birthday in those years. Some people celebrate on February 28th, others on March 1st. This calculator handles the underlying day count precisely and leaves that personal choice up to you rather than picking one for you.

Age isn't counted the same way everywhere

If a number here looks different from what you expected, it might just be a different counting tradition rather than a mistake. This calculator uses full years elapsed since birth — the standard almost everywhere today for legal, medical, and everyday purposes. Some cultures have historically counted age differently, though, adding a year at each new year rather than on a person's actual birthday. One well-documented example is East Asian age reckoning, where a person is considered one year old at birth.

Frequently asked questions

How is my exact age calculated?
We take your birth date and today's date and calculate the full years, months, and remaining days between them using real calendar arithmetic — not a rough estimate.
What is "total days lived"?
It's the exact number of calendar days between your birth date and today, calculated the same precise way as the years/months/days breakdown.
How does the next-birthday countdown work?
We find your birth month and day in the current year (or next year, if it's already passed) and count the days remaining until then.
Is my birth date stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser — no birth date you enter is sent to a server or stored anywhere.
Can I calculate someone else's age, not just my own?
Yes — enter any birth date, yours or someone else's, and the calculator works the same way.
